Agrata – Educational Solution for Girl Drop-outs
- Project Agrata - Educational Solution for Girl Drop-outs
- Concept Design MIT Design Innovation Workshop
- Completion Feb 2014
Agrata (mean leadership) is a concept app/device idea which was created in the MIT Design Innovation Workshop, held at WeSchool in February 2014.
Problem: There are a lot of girls that drop out of school for various reasons in the urban, semi-reason and rural settings in India. How do you make sure these girls keep learning inspite of dropping out from school.
Solution: Can we create a device/app which is girl friendly, which teaches girls technical skills like plumbing, fitting, welding, along with language skills, communication skills, health and hygiene skills and updates information and curriculum on a regular basis. Can we create a device which only the girl can use and is not misused by her parent or guardian?
Can this girl be able to connect with other girls in her community incase she is in danger? Perhaps by having a mesh network.
These were some of the solutions and ideas we came up with while working on this app.
Below are concept ideas and prototype of how the app/device would look like.
We were a team of three young women (Shruti Lakshmi, Anusree Nair and Maitreyi Doshi) who worked on this concept together.
